GRAVESTONES
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH YARD
Corner of Centre and Bridge Streets
Trenton,New
Jersey
Copied Apr. 27, 1943, by Mrs. Alfred P.S. Bellis,
Morrisville, Pennsylvania, from records
in the possession of the Congregation
Of the First Baptist Church
Several
years ago the gravestones in this churchyard, were buried in the graves over
which they had been erected, or in some cases set in the lower masonry of
the walls of the Church and the Sunday School buildings. At this time a plan
of the yard was made and on it was indicated the exact locations of the bodies
interred therein. The numbers following the names listed refer to corresponding
numbers on the plan, a blue print of which is filed in the Church vault, along
with the records of the inscriptions found on the gravestones. In cases where
time had obliterated the inscriptions, or where uninscribed fieldstones marked
the places of burial the graves were numbered on the plan and noted in the
records. However, these unknown dead are not included in the list as given
below. There were, when these stones buried, 463 graves in this churchyard.
